Optus Customer Care Service - Cheers
FACEBOOK is my new favourite 'net site to post stuff to...but I seldom venture to my own 'page' after having lost the war to pop ups. If it POPS up think ROBBER or MUGGER.
I got caught with clicking some stupid thing (actually I just lied, it was THREE stupid things in a matter of minutes - must have been one of my stupid days).
:) Never place your mobile # in anything remotely looking like fun or interesting contest entry.
Simple, just don't get involved even if it looks innocent fun - it isn't fun and it will cost you a bunch of money. I had my phone off for some two weeks and by the time I realised what was happening the whole debacle cost me some big bucks. Ouch, actually double ouch as I felt really dumb as well as pissed off.
I eventually got onto OPTUS Customer Care and my best new friend 'ROB' explained to me my folly. He mentioned that prior to working at OPTUS he had not known about these kinds of calls and warned that everyone should check their accounts on a regular basis to make sure someone hasn't snuck in a 1900 number in.
Basically, one call cost $6, another $3 and the last $2- all coming daily - and which simply ate up my credit. Now I have been given a $5 credit so as to enable me to text STOP, ...something I really never thought to do.
So 3 CHEERS to Rob @ OPTUS for his information and kind help, and a big BOOOOH to sneaky 1900 operators!
My biggest lesson was to learn to CHECK the mobile even if I was going to leave it turned off.

If you are interested to check out my Facebook - I have posted a lot of interesting videos and articles that would just clog this blog up but are related in as much that they are LIQUOR/Virtual World/techie/business inspired. Joan Kamaru
